Manuel scores 22 at Stevens

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Junior DeAundre Manuel (Brooklyn, N.Y./KIPP NYC Prep) posted 22 points and nine rebounds to lead the Lycoming College men's basketball team, which fell victim to a second-half run from Stevens Institute of Technology, which posted a 77-65 win in MAC Freedom play on Saturday, Dec. 4, at Canavan Arena.
 
Manuel hit 9-of-16 shooting as he notched a new career-high in points. Senior Matt Ilodigwe (Wilmington, Del./Concord) posted 18 points and hit 4 3-pointers and sophomore Steven Hamilton (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) added 15 points, as he hit all five of his field goal attempts and both his free throws, four assists and two steals. Junior Dyson Harward (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) added 10 rebounds, the third straight game that he reached double figures in the category. Harward also posted four steals.
 
The Warriors (4-4 overall, 0-1 MAC Freedom) shot 43 percent (26-of-61) from the field, while Stevens (4-3 overall, 2-0 MAC Freedom) shot 47 percent (28-of-60) and notably 48 percent (11-of-23) from 3-point range.
 
Lycoming started the second half on a 20-9 run, with senior Matt Ilodigwe (Wilmington, Del./Concord) hitting a 3-pointer in the corner before junior DeAundre Manuel (Brooklyn, N.Y./KIPP NYC Prep) hit a runner in the lane to give Lycoming a 52-51 lead with13 minutes left.
 
The Ducks, however, responded with an 18-4 run to lead 69-56 with 5:17 left, as the Ducks forced the Warriors into 13 fruitless shots in a row while hitting seven field goals, including three 3-pointers, as they were able to lead by double figures for most of the last nine minutes of the game.
 
The Warriors opened the game by hitting 8-for-its-first-12 shots to build a 19-14 lead just over seven minutes into the game. The Ducks fought back to tie it at 30 with 4:29 left before using a 12-2 run to close the period and take a 10-point lead into the break.
 
First-year Bernard Rogers (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School) added three assists for the Warriors.
 
The Ducks were led by 17 points and six assists from Conor Coffey, 16 points and four assists from Matt LaCorte, who hit four 3-pointers, and 13 points and 12 rebounds from Jack Spellman.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Dec. 11, when they host MAC Freedom opponent FDU-Florham at 3 p.m. in Lamade Gym.
