Warriors fall at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Sophomore Allison Butler (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove Area) led the Lycoming College women's basketball team with eight points, five rebounds and two steals, but Juniata College used a solid shooting second half to post a 57-36 win to open the Juniata College Tip-Off Tournament.
 
First-year Ashley Yoh (Myerstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon County) had six points and nine rebounds, first-year Meghan Dufner (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) added five points and six rebounds, and junior Emily Zoscin (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly Area) had four points, four rebounds and two assists for the Warriors (0-4 overall). Sophomore Alyssa Zorbaugh (York, Pa./West York) added seven rebounds.
 
The Warriors held Juniata (2-1 overall) off the board for a six-minute span in the first quarter, helping it start the game on a 7-3 run before Juniata closed the quarter on a 9-4 run to take a 12-11 lead. The Eagles were able expand that lead to three at the break at 20-17.
 
The Eagles scored the first 11 points of the third quarter and the Warriors worked to cut the lead to single digits at 36-28 at the end of the period. The Eagles started the fourth quarter on 13-2 run to lead 49-30 with 4:56 left and the Warriors couldn't close within 17 in the final moments.
 
Juniata shot 42 percent from the field (16-of-38) in the second half after Lycoming held them to 26 percent (7-of-27) in the first half.
 
Haily Sherman posted 17 points and Grace Long added 13 points, 11 rebounds, four steals and three assists against Juniata. Cassie Mock also posted 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Nov. 20, when they host Ohio Northern at 1 p.m. to wrap up their time at the Juniata Tip-Off Tournament.
