WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore
Justin Joseph (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) won 15-of-19 faceoffs and junior
Dominick Massaro (Centereach, N.Y./Sachem North) led the offense with three goals and two assists, as the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team came back from a two-goal first quarter deficit to post an 11-7 win over rival Susquehanna University in the Battle of the Bucket on Saturday, Feb. 15, at UPMC Field.

Thanks to the performance of Joseph, who scooped up five groundballs, and senior
Max Crumlich (New Cumberland, Pa./Red Land), who won both his faceoffs, the Warriors were able to control possession, as the defense, led by sophomore
Ian Chapman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley), who caused three turnovers, forced 22 River Hawk turnovers. Lycoming finished with a 33-23 advantage in groundballs, led by a career-high six from senior
Nick Russello (Guilford, Conn./Guilford).

The disparity in possession helped Lycoming (1-0 overall) hold a 52-34 advantage in shots, as it put 33 shots on the cage, while Susquehanna (0-1 overall) was held to seven goals thanks to a 15-save debut performance from freshman
Cameron Kuzniar (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta), who secured a win over Susquehanna for just the second time in the past eight meetings.

Colton Dick gave Susquehanna a 2-0 lead through the first 6:05 before Lycoming got on the board, taking advantage of a turnover with sophomore
Owen Zummerman (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) finding sophomore
Max Hanson (Prattville, Ala./Bishop Machebeuf (Colo.)) for a score with 6:50 left. Minutes later, senior
Shain Quigley (Lincoln University, Pa./Oxford Area) tied the score before Massaro scored all three of his goals in a 10-minute span to give Lycoming a 5-2 lead. The River Hawks stopped the run with a goal with 2.5 seconds left in the first half and cut the lead down to a goal early in the third quarter.

Quigley found Collins for a score with 12:21 left and sophomore
Michael Scarponi (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) found a seam and took a hard shot to the keeper's left to make it 7-4 with 9:58 to play in the third quarter.

Susquehanna cut the lead to two twice more, but a man-up goal from Zimmerman started a run of three straight goals to start the fourth quarter for Lycoming, giving the team an 11-6 lead after the first goal of the season from sophomore
Blake Premo (Massena, N.Y./Massena).

Quigley posted two goals and an assist, senior
Drew Collins (Victor, N.Y./Victor), Hanson, Zimmerman and freshman
Joe Corrozzo (Glen Head, N.Y./North Shore) each had a goal and an assist. Senior
Grant Huff (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) caused two turnovers.

Dick led the River Hawks with three goals and an assist and Michael Hatala added two goals and two assists. Jake Fox had five groundballs.

The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, Feb. 22, when they host Washington & Jefferson at 1 p.m. at UPMC Field.
