YORK, Pa. – Junior Dominick Berardelli (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) and senior Elena Pikounis (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) both won their respective 'C' finals heats to headline the Lycoming College men's and women's swimming teams in day two of the four-day MAC Championships on Friday night, Feb. 14, at the Graham Aquatic Center.
 
Berardelli qualified for the men's 400-yard individual medley 'C' final with a preliminary time of 4:34.66, before besting that time by nine seconds to win the 'C' heat (4:29.90), three seconds faster than the second-place finisher. He also destroyed his previous career-best of 4:40.78 in the event.
 
Pikounis claimed the top spot in the 100-yard butterfly 'C' final, as she beat out Stevenson's Emily Wolff to finish first in the heat with a career-best 1:03.58.
 
Junior Cara Zortman (York, Pa./York Suburban) placed second in the consolation final of the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.09, earning 17 team points for the women.
 
Junior Mikayla Wright (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) swam a 5:06.07 to take 19^th in the 400-yard individual medley, taking third in the 'C' final heat.
 
Both women's relays had strong performances. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Devon Kaiser (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson), sophomore Katherine Brown (Glenside, Pa./Abington), senior Michaela Thode (Anderson, Calif./West Valley) and Zortman took sixth in 1:42.68  and the 400-yard medley relay team of Kaiser, Brown, Pikounis and Zortman placed eighth with a time of 4:12.66.
 
Brown also earned points in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing 16th in 2:02.02 after posting a 2:01.79, the fifth-fastest time in program history, in the preliminaries to reach the consolation final with Zortman.

The men's 400-yard medley relay team of sophomore Jake Booth (Wallingford, Pa/Strath Haven), freshman William Marcinkowski (Philadelphia, Pa./LaSalle College), freshman Matthew Michenfelder (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) and Berardelli placed 11^th  in 3:47.73.
 
The Warriors are back in the pool for the 10 a.m. preliminary rounds of the  200-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard breaststroke events. During the 6 p.m. final rounds, the 800-yard freestyle relay will also be decided.
