Hollis’ 3-point dagger downs Arcadia, 70-68

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Ryan Hollis (Centerville, Md./Saints Peters & Paul) hit a 3-point dagger at the buzzer to lift the Lycoming College men's basketball team past Arcadia University in a 70-68 overtime MAC Commonwealth win at Alumni Gym on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 18.

In the overtime period, the two teams fought through a tie and six lead changes to enter the final 30 seconds, when Da'Kquan Davis hit a layup in the paint to make it 68-67 with nine seconds left. Hollis, answered though, as Lycoming took the ball out under the basket and junior Darius Dangerfield (Abingdon, Md./Harford Tech) drove the lane, kicked out to sophomore Matt Ilodigwe (Wilmington, Del./Concord), who found a wide open Hollis, who released his swished through shot with 0.4 seconds left.

Freshman Mo Terry (Severn, Md./Severn School) drove through traffic with a strong bucket and was fouled with 23 seconds remaining in regulation and hit both free throws to put the Warriors ahead 61-58 before Arcadia's Da'Kquan Davis was fouled behind the three-point line. Davis converted all three free throws with two ticks left to send the game to overtime.

Freshman Dyson Harward (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) finished with a career-high eight made field goals (8-for-15) for an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double to lead the Warriors, as Harward and Hollis (15) both were a point shy of tying career-highs. Terry scored 13 points as Lycoming and Arcadia played wire-to-wire for the entire game with 19 lead changes between the teams.

The Warriors (12-5, 5-3 MAC Commonwealth) kept Arcadia at close range and never allowed the Knights (9-7, 4-3 MAC Commonwealth) to go ahead by more than four points. The first half saw eight lead changes, with Harward hitting a layup to regain a lead 29-28 at halftime. Hollis led Lycoming with 10 points and sophomore D'Andre Edmond (Pflugerville, Texas/Pflugerville) went 3-for-3 for his six points.

Out of the break, Lycoming went on a 9-0 run to build the largest lead in the game. Terry drew a shooting foul in the lane and converted both shots, Harward added a layup on the next possession, Dangerfield hit a jumper and followed it up with a trey at the 18:08 mark to give the Warriors a 37-28 lead.

Lycoming went 11-for-18 shooting and grabbed 16 rebounds as a team while holding Arcadia to 33 percent shooting in the second half. Harward scored 10 points and Dangerfield and Terry each added nine.

MAC Commonwealth scoring leader Da'Kquan Davis led the Knights with 33 points and seven rebounds.

The Warriors are back home Saturday, Jan. 25 when they host Widener at Lamade Gymnasium at 3 p.m.
