Cara Zortman (York, Pa./York Suburban) won two individual events to lead the Lycoming College women's swim team and sophomore
Jake Booth (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) won two events for the men's team, but King's College was able to sweep a Middle Atlantic Conference dual, winning 128-59 on the women's side and 126-61 on the men's, on Friday night, Jan. 17, at Scandlon Pool.
Zortman posted a time of 2:06.05 to edge out teammate freshman teammate
Katherine Brown (Glenside, Pa./Abington) in the 200-yard freestyle, as Brown finished just a second behind in 2:07.09, making up plenty of water in the final 50 yards and surpassing a King's competitor with a split of 30.99.
Zortman added another win in the 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 57.14, edging out King's Claire Coe by three-tenths of a second. Brown added a win of her own, as she separated from the pack in the final 50 yards of the 200-yard breaststroke to post a time of 2:40.16.
Booth won the 200-yard freestyle with a solid second half of the race to come-from-behind for the win. He followed with a win in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:05.03, cruising to an eight-second win.
Senior
Will Gillespie (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) also added a win in the 200-yard butterfly, posting a time of 2:12.42.
Senior
Elena Pikounis (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) posted a season-best time to finish second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:16.12) and sophomore
Devon Kaiser (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnamionson) posted a season-best 26.60 in the 50-yard freestyle. Freshman
William Marcinkowski (Philadelphia, Pa./LaSalle College) also had a season-best performance in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing second in 2:29.79.
The Warriors get back in the pool on Saturday, Jan. 25, when they head to Alfred State for the 12 p.m. Pioneer Invitational.
