BETHANY, W.Va. – With the game deadlocked at zero through the first 53 minutes, the Lycoming College women's soccer team scored three consecutive goals in a span of 13 minutes to capture a 3-0 victory over Bethany College on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 7 at Houg Field.
Senior
Michayla Hazard (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) and freshmen
Gabby Perez (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) and
Jessica Umpstead (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) scored their first-career goals to break the game open in the second half and secure the Warrior victory.Â
Perez ended the scoreless drought with an unassisted goal in the 53rd minute.Â

Umpstead followed suit in the 64th minute, before Hazard put the game out of reach two minutes later off an assist from sophomore
Megan Oyler (Bedford, Pa./Bedford).Â
The Warriors (2-2 overall) outshot the Bison (0-3 overall), 28-9, nearly doubling their shots in the second half and were led by a game-high six shots from sophomore
Alicia Blizzard (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) and four each from Umpstead and Oyler. Â
Junior
Samantha Marvin (Milton, Pa./Milton Area) had one save in the first 45 minutes to earn the victory in net for Lycoming. SophomoreÂ
Bronwen Lewis (Cresaptown, Md./Allegany) made three saves in the next 24:20 before handing duties over to sophomoreÂ
Bekki Weller (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area), who held the shutout intact.
The Warriors are back in action on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m., when they travel to Mount Aloysius College for a non-conference game at the Ray and Louise Walker Athletic Field Complex.Â
