Elle Sarracco (Wantage, N.J./High Point Regional) helped the Lycoming College women's soccer team post a 1-1 tie in double overtime at Mount Aloyisus College on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 8, in non-conference action at the Ray and Louise Walker Athletic Field Complex.
With less than four minutes to go, sophomore
Megan Oyler (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) rebounded after being an issued a yellow card by winning a throw-in and sending a header into the box, where Sarracco split two defenders and fired a shot off the right side of the twine to tie the game.
Katie Figinski scored in the 29
th minute to give the Mounties (2-1-1 overall) a 1-0 lead off an assist from Johnna Adams.
In the overtime periods, the Warriors took one shot and the Mounties took two, forcing Lycoming's sophomore keeper
Jess Riordan (Vineland, N.J./Our Lady of Mercy) to make one save to preserve the tie.
Riordan finished with four saves in the full 110 minutes and Courtney Vought matched that stat line for the Mounties. Lycoming finished with 13 shots while holding the Mounties, predicted to finish second in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference after going 14-3-2 in 2018, to 11. Lycoming also had a season-best eight corner kicks in the match.
The Warriors are back on the field on Friday, Sept. 13, when they host Penn State Altoona at UMPC Field at 4 p.m.
