WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – With a combined three wins at No. 1 singles and doubles, senior Hannah Summerson (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) broke an 18-year-old program record to highlight the Lycoming College women's tennis team on day-one of the MAC Individual Championship at Wilkes-Barre's Kirby Park on Saturday, Sept. 28.
 
Summerson won her record-breaking 87^th-career match by teaming up with freshman Aubrey Chambers (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County) to take down Lebanon Valley's Melanie Haas and Elise Hanks-Witaszek, 8-1 to advance to the semifinals at No. 1 doubles. Summerson is now 43-26 in doubles play and 45-24 in singles to give her 88 wins, surpassing the previous record of 86 set by Cricket Temple from 1999-2002.
 
The No. 3 seed Summerson and Chambers will take on the No. 2 seed Agatha Malinowski and Audrey Heaberlin from Stevens in the semifinals on Sunday, Sept. 29 with the semifinal rounds beginning at 9 a.m.
 
Summerson tied the record in the opening round of doubles when she teamed up with Chambers to defeat Alvernia's Ariana Chuprinsky and Rachel Rineer, 8-7 (4).
 
Summerson earned her third victory of the day, taking down Arcadia's Tess Weber, 6-2, 6-0 in in the singles top flight, before falling in the quarterfinal to the No. 3 seed from Wilkes.
 
The Warriors had two other players reach the singles quarterfinals, as Chambers took down King's Diana Rodriguez in her No. 2 slot, 10-6, in the superset tiebreaker after winning the first set, 6-4 and falling in the second, 3-6. Freshman Madi Heller (Cogan Station, Pa./Williamsport Pa.) defeated Misericordia's Nicole Pangiochi, 6-3, 6-1, in the opening round of No. 3 singles.
