Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Ream’s goal lifts Warriors past Knights

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Junior Drew Collins (Victor, N.Y./Victor) came around the corner and ran into an Arcadia defender, so he looked to his left to find senior Andrew Ream (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel), who took one step and side-wound a shot into the upper-right corner to give the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team a 12-11 MAC Commonwealth overtime win over Arcadia University on Saturday, April 13 at Jean Lenox West Field.

The Warriors (6-8 overall, 4-2 MAC Commonwealth) had to comeback from a 9-5 deficit to start the second half, but third-quarter goals from Collins and Ream were followed by a score from freshman Owen Zimmerman (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) off a give from freshman Blake Premo (Massena, N.Y./Massena) to cut the deficit to one score with 12:52 left in the fourth.

Arcadia (7-7 overall, 2-3 MAC Commonwealth) retook a two-goal lead a minute later, but the Warriors came back once again, with junior Shain Quigley (Lincoln University, Pa./Oxford Area) and senior Connor Riorden (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) scoring four minutes apart to tie it at 10 with 6:45 to play.

It stayed there until the Warriors forced a turnover with 1:46 left and after a clear, Zimmerman found Collins for a go-ahead goal with 37 seconds left. Arcadia, however, won the ensuing faceoff and Josh Keitz scored a put-back goal after a save with six seconds left to send the game into overtime.

The Knights won the faceoff in the overtime period and had two possessions, but a save by senior goalkeeper Michael Tenant (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) and a caused turnover by Zimmerman and groundball from freshman Ian Chapman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) helped give the Warriors the ball for the game-winning possession.

Ream finished with three goals and an assist to lead the Warriors and Collins added two goals and two assists. Zimmerman notched a goal and three assists, adding three groundballs and Quigley posted a goal and two assists. Riorden also notched two goals.

Senior Austin Arroyo (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) led the Warriors with five groundballs and freshman Justin Joseph (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) won nine faceoffs and added three groundballs. Freshman Markus Sidwell (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie) caused three turnovers and picked up two groundballs and senior Cole Masterson (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) added two caused turnovers and two groundballs.

The two teams alternated three goals a piece in the first 10 minutes of the game before Arcadia finished the last 20 minutes of the first half on a 6-2 run, scoring three times in the second quarter's last 200 seconds to take a four-goal lead into the break.

Josh Keitz led the Knights with three goals and Clo Muscara added two goals and two assists. Keitz also posted 13 groundballs and caused three turnovers and Joe Trovato caused three turnovers and picked up seven groundballs.

Arcadia outshot the Warriors 48-38, but took just 14 shots from the second half on. They also held a 54-35, advantage in groundballs, but had just 22 after the first half.

In net, senior Michael Tenant (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) posted 13 saves, leaving him two shy of the school's career record of 655 career saves set by Jared Jankowski (1998-01). Grant Palmer stopped eight shots in 47 minutes and Brendan Kuzminski stopped four in the final 16 minutes for Arcadia.

The Warriors get back on the field on Wednesday, April 24, after Easter when they host Alvernia University at 4 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex in a MAC Commonwealth game.
