OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Junior
D'Yante Doughty (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) posted 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to lead the Lycoming College men's basketball team, but a hot-shooting effort from 3-point range in the second half from Norman Hughes helped lift Stevenson University to a 73-67 MAC Commonwealth win on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 7, at Owings Mills Gymnasium.

Hughes finished with 33 points, hitting eight 3-pointers, all in the second half, to pace the Mustangs (4-5 overall, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth), as Stevenson overcame a 12-point second-half deficit.

Three Warriors (6-2 overall, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) finished in double figures, led by Doughty, who crossed 500 points in his career in the game. Junior
Darius Dangerfield (Abingdon, Md./Harford Tech) posted 14 points and four assists and freshman
Mo Terry (Severn, Md./Severn) added 11 points and six rebounds.

Matt Ilodigwe (Wilmington, Del./Concord) posted eight points and freshman
Dyson Harward (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) added six points and nine rebounds. Senior
Ryan Hollis (Centerville, Md./Saints Peters & Paul) posted five assists and two steals and freshman
Luke Finkbeiner (Warrenton, Va./Wakefield School) added six points.

After a Stevenson layup made it 15-12 midway through the first half, the Warriors posted a 14-3 run to take a 26-15 lead with 4:07 left in the period after a 3-pointer from Ilodigwe and the Warriors expanded that lead to as many as 14 later in the period before leading 31-19 at the break.

The Warriors shot 39 percent in the first half while holding Stevenson to a 26 percent. Early in the second half, it was more of the same, with Doughty draining a 3-pointer with 16:06 left to give Lycoming a 43-29 lead. However, Hughes began to heat up from 3-point range, hitting three in a row, also adding a free throw in the run to get Stevenson within a point with 13:16 left.

Stevenson took the lead off a jumper from Isaiah Oshinnaiye, but Terry answered with a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 11:06 left to take a 51-50 advantage. Stevenson scored the next seven points, though, and Lycoming could only come as close as three points in the final nine minutes.

Stevenson shot 62 percent from the field in the final period while Lycoming shot a respectable 39 percent.

Evan Joseph finished with 12 points and five rebounds and Jaylin Johnson posted 10 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Mustangs.

The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Dec. 11, when they host Messiah College in MAC Commonwealth action at 6 p.m. in Lamade Gym.
