WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior
D'Yante Doughty (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) hit two free throws with 1:10 remaining to give the Lycoming College men's basketball team the lead, as it survived a late scare from Messiah College to post a 63-62 MAC Commonwealth win in Lamade Gym on Wednesday night, Dec. 11.

In the final minute, Messiah had four free throws, but hit just one, with freshman
DeAundre Manuel (Brooklyn, N.Y./Kipp NYC College Prep) hauling in a rebound off a missed free throw with 1.3 seconds left to secure the win.

Doughty  was 5-for-11 and perfect from the free throw line (4-for-4) to lead the Warriors with 16 points, adding a team-high eight rebounds and two assists. Freshman
Dyson Harward (Danville, Pa./Danville) and junior
Darius Dangerfield (Abington, Md./Harford Tech) each scored ten points and the Warriors (7-2 overall, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth) survived a late Falcon flurry down the stretch that had four lead changes in the final three minutes.

The Warriors opened the game strong, scoring the first ten points as Dangerfield cashed in five points and Lycoming built its largest lead (12) of the half at 13:53. Lycoming ended the hot half shooting 44.8% (13-29) and held an 11-point, 38-29, lead.

Lycoming held a lead for 35 minutes as Messiah (6-2 overall, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) chipped away in the second half before Messiah's E.J. Porter three-point shot put the Falcons ahead, 61-59, with 3:49 left in the game. The Falcons shot 41.4% as a team in the second half, but didn't hit another field goal.

Lycoming tied the game with a  layup inside from freshman
Mo Terry (Severn, Md./Severn School) with 1:57 left before Harward drew an offensive foul and Doughty drew one to take the line and give Lycoming the lead with 70 ticks left.

Ryan Hollis (Centerville, Md./St. Peters & Paul) and sophomore
Matt Ilodigwe (Wilmington, Del./Concord) each chipped in six points and Manuel had five.

Colin Sareyka scored 20 points, six rebounds and four assists to lead Messiah and Darville had a team-high eight rebounds.

The Warriors head to Widener on Saturday, Dec. 14, for a 3 p.m. MAC Commonwealth game to wrap up a two-week December dip into the conference schedule.
