WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After a bye week, the Lycoming College football team will hit the home stretch of its 2019 season, starting by facing Middle Atlantic Conference foe FDU-Florham on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m. at David Person Field.

The Warriors (1-5 overall, 0-4 MAC) are trying to shake off a four-game skid, as they fell to Alvernia, 29-24, in their last outing on Oct. 12. Freshman Joey Guida led the team with 104 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries and senior Dezmen Johnson caught eight passes for a career-best 101 yards.

The Devils (2-5 overall, 1-4 MAC) fell to Misericordia, 42-14, in its last outing on Oct. 19.  Junior quarterback Anthony Caserta completed 28 passes for 366 yards and two touchdowns.

Warrior Notes
• Senior Christoff Minott became the first Warrior to throw and catch a touchdown since 2011 in the 2018 game at FDU-Florham.

• Sophomore Elijah Shemory became the 12th quarterback in program history to reach 3,000 passing yards in a career with his 107th of 183 against Alvernia. 

• Senior Jamie Fisher broke the school's career field goals record set by John Phillips (1989-92) with the 31st of his career against Alvernia.

• Five Warriors have reached 100 career tackles this year (seniors Sam Pawlikowski, Jarrell Payne, Ahmad Curtis, Korahn Williams and Zach Kovach).

• Senior Dezmen Johnson had career-highs of eight catches for 101 yards against Alvernia.

• Freshman David Tomb had career bests of seven tackles and a sack against Alvernia.

Wiser set for Centre County Hall induction
Assistant head coach Steve Wiser '74 will be honored as part of the third induction class of the Centre County Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Penn Stater in State College. A native of Port Matilda, Pa., Wiser grew up competing in Centre County before coming to Lycoming College as a student in 1970.
 
During his time at Lycoming, the Warriors have posted a record of 328-154-5 (.679) while garnering 12 NCAA playoff appearances, including two trips to the national title game. His defense topped the MAC 18 times and has posted a total of 66 shutouts.

Wiser has already earned induction to the Lycoming College Athletics (1989), West Branch Valley Sports (2013), Bald Eagle Area (1987) Halls of Fame.

Fisher's Field Goals
With seven field goals in the first six games, senior Jamie Fisher has climbed to the top of the  school's career field goal record book, breaking the school record of 30 set by John Phillips in 1992 with a 32-yard field goal against Alvernia. Fisher missed his first  field goal attempt against Delaware Valley and is currently 17th in Division III with 1.2 field goals made per game. He has hit two of the 10 longest field goals in program history and he has set a school record with seven career 40-yard field goals. Fisher is the first Warrior in program history to hit 10 field goals in back-to-back years after hitting 13-of-18 as a sophomore and 10-of-17 as a junior. 

Behind the Line
Senior Duane Boone and junior Matt Galasso have made a big impact behind the line of scrimmage, as the pair are both in the top 10 in the conference in tackles for loss. Boone, from Tyrone, Pa., is fifth in the category with seven tackles behind the line. He has notched at least one tackle behind the line of scrimmage in the last five games, posting two against Widener and King's, when he had a hand in a career-best 10 stops. Galasso, from Philadelphia, is sixth in the category with 5.5 tackles for loss and he leads the team with three sacks.

Reaching 100
After four Warriors reached 100 career tackles in 2018, five have already hit the mark in 2019. Senior linebacker Zach Kovach was the last to reach the milestone, doing so against Alvernia. He has 102 career stops, posting 34 as a freshman, 25 as a sophomore, 17 as a junior and 26 this season. Three Warriors reached the mark in the win over Widener.  Senior Jarrell Payne, a linebacker, was the first to reach the mark and he now has 121 career tackles, posting 19 as a freshman, 42 as a sophomore, 33 as a junior and 27 this year. Senior Sam Pawlikowski, a linebacker, has added 141 stops, posting two as a freshman, 59 as a sophomore, 30 as a junior and a team-best 50 this year. Senior Ahmad Curtis, a defensive lineman, was third to reach the mark against the Pride, as he now has 125 in his career after posting 12 as a freshman, 31 as a sophomore, 50 as a junior and 32 this year. Senior Korahn Williams, a defensive back, was the fourth to reach the mark, doing so against Delaware Valley. He had 38 tackles as a freshman, 28 as a sophomore, 24 as a junior and 14 this year. 

Senior cornerback D.J. Boyd entered the year with 100 tackles. He posted 25 tackles as a freshman, 13 in a medical hardship year and 52 as a sophomore, 25 as a junior and has eight this year. 

Minott's Minute
With a 64-yard touchdown reception and a 19-yard touchdown pass, junior Christoff Minott enjoyed a breakout game at FDU-Florham in 2018. Minott is the first Warrior to post a receiving and passing touchdown in the same game since Matt Atkinson caught a 14-yard pass and tossed a 29-yard touchdown in a 40-7 win over Wilkes on Oct. 15, 2011. The touchdowns were the first of Minott's career.

Dez's Day
Senior Dezmen Johnson had a breakthrough effort against Alvernia, as he had a career-best eight receptions for 101 yards. He caught a career-long 53-yard reception during the game as well. The effort from the 5-10, 165-pound senior helped him move into second on the team in receiving yards (210) and receptions (20). He has already tripled his career output this year after entering the season with nine receptions for 100 yards.
