WILLIAMSPORT Pa, - The Lycoming College men's basketball team overcame a 12-point first-half deficit to take the lead in the second period, but a late run in the game's final six minutes led Alvernia University to a 80-77 MAC Commonwealth victory on Wednesday night, Jan. 9., in Lamade Gym.

After trailing through the game's first 23 minutes, the Warriors (7-9 overall, 1-6 MAC Commonwealth) took their first lead of the night, at 15:17 off a jumper by sophomore
Darius Dangerfield (Abingdon, Md./Harford Tech). The Warriors extended their lead to 10 following a converted 3-point play by senior
Calvin Chandler (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista), making it 64-54, with 8:33 to go.

Alvernia (5-9 overall, 1-5 MAC Commonwealth) responded with a 16-4 run over the games next four minutes to regain the lead, 70-68. With Alvernia leading, 79-75, with 12

Markanthony Fidelis (Largo, Md./DeMatha Catholic) scored a layup in transition, narrowing the gap to two. Alvernia went 1-of-4 from the line down the stretch, but the Warriors were unable to get closer in the waning seconds.

Fidelis scored a team-high 23 points while shooting 9-of-21 from the floor and 3-of-7 from three. Chandler continued his hot scoring stretch, finishing with 18 points and pulling in nine rebounds. Dangerfield dished out seven assists for the third game in a row, and junior
