WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Four Lycoming College women's basketball players finished in double figures and it hit 51 percent from the floor while jumping out to a big first-quarter lead en route to a 77-55 win over regional rival King's College on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 5, at McGrane Gym.

Kayla Kline (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) posted her seventh double-double of the season, notching 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Warriors (11-4 overall) in the scoring column. Senior
Becca Painter (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) added 16 points and nine rebounds, as she canned four 3-pointers and added four assists. Both sophomore
Erica Lutz (Bernville, Pa./Hamburg) and junior
Akilah McFadden (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) had 15 points, with Lutz adding four assists, two steals and two blocks and McFadden posting three assists and two steals.

The Warriors connected on 32-of-63 shooting in the game, including knocking down eight 3-pointers. King's shot 38 percent (24-of-64) and were outrebounded, 43-30. The Warriors held a 21-8 advantage in points off turnovers and a 14-4 lead in points in transition.

Lycoming flew out of the gate with one of its highest-scoring quarters of the season, building a 28-4 lead over King's in the game's first 10 minutes. Lycoming hit 13-of-18 shots in the quarter, while holding King's to just two field goals, and they held a 12-5 advantage on the glass. Lutz led the charge with eight points in the period, while freshman
Kelly Vuz (Blairstown, N.J./North Warren Regional) and McFadden each added seven.

In the second quarter, King's held Lycoming scoreless for the last four minutes of the period while scoring six points to cut the lead down to 37-23 at the break. Lutz and McFadden led the team in the first half, with Lutz notching 11 points, five rebounds and two blocks and McFadden posting 10 points and two steals.

Lycoming started the second half with a 3-pointer from Painter off a give from Kline and got the lead back to 20 points with 6:16 left in the quarter, and a minute later, a trey from Painter started a 10-3 run that helped push the lead to 25 points. In the final period, Lycoming stretched the lead to 28 points at 71-43 after a 3-pointer from Kline before King's was able to get it down to 20 in the final two minutes.

Alexis Steeber led the Monarchs with 15 points and six rebounds and Mackenzie Yori posted 14 points and four rebounds.

The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Jan. 9, when they head back into MAC Commonwealth play by facing Alvernia University at 4 p.m. in Lamade Gym.
