Warriors defeat Albright in overtime thriller, 58-55

READING, Pa. – Senior Calvin Chandler (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) drilled a go-ahead 3-pointer with 51 seconds remaining in overtime and the Lycoming College men's basketball team used back-to-back defensive stops to defeat Albright College, 58-55, in MAC Commonwealth action on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 26 at the Bollman Center.

The Warriors (9-11 overall, 3-8 MAC Commonwealth) tied the game at 53 following two free throws by senior Darius James (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) and gained the lead seconds later off a layup by James with 2:19 left in overtime. The Lions (5-14 overall, 4-7 MAC Commonwealth) knotted things back up at 55, before sophomore Darius Dangerfield (Abingdon, Md./Harford Tech) found Chandler at the top of the key, who knocked down the go-ahead three.  The Warriors clung tough the next two possessions to seal the win, stopping Albright from taking a game-tying shot at the buzzer after Albright inbounded with two seconds left.

The Warriors broke out on a 26-8 run over the games next 11 minutes, and took their first lead of the half, 48-46 following a 3-of-3 trip to the line from Dangerfield. The teams traded baskets over the final three minutes, and the game remained tied, 51-51, following a layup by Doughty with 33 seconds left. A timeout with 16 seconds on the clock gave the Lions a chance at a go-ahead score, but the Warriors shut down the final drive to send the game into overtime.
