CHESTER, Pa. – Four Lycoming College men's basketball team finished in double figures, but the team fell to a deep-shooting Widener University, 84-71, in MAC Commonwealth action on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 15, at the Schwartz Athletic Center.
The Warriors (5-6 overall, 1-5 MAC Commonwealth) shot 48 percent (29-of-60) from the field compared to 43 percent (28-of-64) from Widener (7-3 overall, 4-1 MAC Commonwealth). However, the Pride connected on 47 percent (9-of-19) from three and outscored Lycoming, 22-17, off turnovers.
Widener came out of the break firing from 3-point land, connecting on 4-of-5 triples to build their lead to 52-39 with 13:56 remaining. The Pride continued their hot shooting over the next ten minutes getting the lead to 20, the largest of the night, with 3:18 remaining. Freshman
Matt Ilodigwe (Wilmington, Del./Concord) led the Warriors on a 15-7 run by scoring nine points in the final three minutes, but they could not erase the deficit.

Markanthony Fidelis (Largo, Md./DeMatha Catholic), who leads the MAC Commonwealth in 3-point field goal percentage and 3-pointers made, was 4-of-6 from three, marking his third straight game knocking down three or more shots from deep, as he led the team with 15 points.
Ilodigwe scored a career-high 11 points and freshman
D'Andre Edmond (Pflugerville, Texas/Pflugerville) dropped in 10 points to highlight 29 bench points. Sophomore
Darius Dangerfield (Abingdon, Md./Harford Tech) netted 10 points, marking his seventh straight game in double-figures, and senior
Calvin Chandler (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) added eight points and five rebounds.
After the Pride scored the first five points of the contest, the Warriors received a layup from Dangerfield and the first three from Fidelis, to tie the game at five. After staying within striking distance over the next six five minutes, the Warriors took their first lead, 17-16, off a field goal from Edmond. A layup by Fidelis built Lycoming's largest lead of the half to five, 23-18, with 7:51 to go in the period. The Pride finished the half on a 20-9 run to hold a 38-30 lead heading into the break.
Tyler Drews led the Pride with 30 points and four assists, as he hit six 3-pointers, and Connor Laverty added 15 points and seven rebounds. Ryan McMahon posted 10 assists.
The Warriors are back on the court on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 4 p.m., when they host Chatham University in Lamade Gym.
