Warriors fly past Eagles

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman Markanthony Fidelis (Largo, Md./DeMatha Catholic) went over the 20-point mark for the second straight game, finishing with 21 points to lead the Lycoming College men's basketball team to a 79-57 victory against non-conference opponent Juniata College, on Tuesday night, Nov. 13, at the Memorial Gymnasium.
 
Fidelis has scored in double-figures every game this season, finishing with 21 points and a six rebounds while hitting 8-of-13 shots. Sophomore Darius Dangerfield (Abington, Md./Harford Teach) finished with 16 points, going 4-of-7 from three, marking his third straight game in double figures as well. Reigning MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week, senior Darius James (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin), finished with nine points and nine rebounds. Senior Calvin Chandler (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) dropped in nine points with a career-high three blocks and sophomore D'Yante Doughty (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) had a game-high three assists and seven rebounds. 
 
With Juniata (0-1 overall) leading 24-18 with seven minutes to go in the half, the Warriors (3-0 overall), went on a 17-2 run to end the half with a nine-point advantage. Fidelis had seven points during the run and scored 15 while shooting 6-of-8 from the field in the half. Dangerfield knocked down three of the teams five 3-point field goals.
 
The Warriors used an efficient and explosive offense to expand their lead in the second half. They started the half on a 17-6 run and pushed their lead to 21 after five straight points from Fidelis and a three from junior Devon Taylor (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson). Lycoming eventually took a 27-point lead, the largest lead of the night, 69-42, off a layup by James.  
 
The Warriors shot 48 percent from the field and hit 10-of-28 from 3-point range, the most in a game since the 2017 team hit 12 against Hood.
 
The Warriors are back on the court on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m., when they head to Selinsgrove to take on Susquehanna University at the Ow Houts Gymnasium.
