WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman
Markanthony Fidelis (Largo, Md./DeMatha Catholic) and sophomore
Darius Dangerfield (Abingdon, Md./Harford Tech) both had a career-high 21 points to lead the Lycoming College men's basketball team to an 89-82 victory over Marywood University in the Dutch Burch Tip-Off Championship on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 10, at Lamade Gym.
The Warriors (2-0 overall) won their fourth straight tournament championship with the win and 16
th in 21 years.
The Warriors took their first lead with 18:44 in the first period off a 3-point field goal from Dangerfield and never trailed again. Senior
Calvin Chandler (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista)
capped off an 18-0 run with a 3-point basket to give Lycoming a 34-15 lead with six minutes left in the period.
Dangerfield, a member of the All-Tournament Team, scored 14 of his 21 points in the first half, including two 3-point field goals, while Fidelis dropped in 10 to help the Warriors head into the break with a 39-28 advantage. The two guards had 9 of the Warriors 15 field goals and Fidelis finished the period with a +/- of 19.

Darius James (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin), had 15 points and a career-high 14 rebounds for his second straight double-double. Sophomore
D'Yante Doughty (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) had 18 points for the second-straight game to go with six assist, while remaining perfect at the free-throw line by connecting on 8-of-8 attempts making him 14-of-14 on the year.
The Warriors took a 22-point lead, their largest of the game, with 13:49 left, off a 3-pointer by Doughty. The Pacers (1-1 overall) chipped away to cut the lead to four with 29 seconds remaining after the Warriors fouled Thomas Swartz on a three-point attempt and he cashed in on all three foul shots. Lycoming, however, went 6-of-6 from the line, four from Fidelis and two from Doughty, to close out the game.
Swartz, a member of the All-Tournament Team, had eight of his 19 points at the foul line and Jeremy Ringland had a game-high 25 points to lead the Pacers.
Lycoming returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 11, when it heads to Huntingdon, Pa. to take on non-conference opponent Juniata College for a 7 p.m. tip.
