Warriors fall to first-place Falcons

Box Score SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman Hannah Summerson (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) and junior Kaitlin Hallabuk (Towanda, Pa./Towanda Area) each won singles matches to lead the Lycoming College women's tennis team against first-place Messiah College in a match moved indoors to the West Branch Tennis Club, but Messiah was able to stay undefeated in the MAC Commonwealth with a 7-2 win on Wednesday, April 19.

Summerson won her 11th singles match of the year with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Carly Dove at No. 1 singles, moving her into a tie for eighth in school history for wins in a season. Combined with her 11 doubles wins, she is tied for third in program history with 22 combined wins, just two shy of the school record of 24 set by Cricket Temple in 2000.

Hallabuk also reached a milestone, moving alone into the top 10 in school history in singles wins with an 8-4 win over Meagan Scala at No. 3 singles. The win was the 23rd of her career, as she moved past Josie Castillo (2002-06), who went 22-15.

The Falcons (7-5 overall, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) won all three doubles matches in tight matches and earned four singles wins to clinch the win, though, as the Warriors (10-5 overall, 2-3 MAC Commonwealth) will now need to win both their last two MAC Commonwealth matches to earn a slot in the conference tournament.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, April 22, when they host Hood in a critical MAC Commonwealth match at 1 p.m. at Bruce Henry Park.
