WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior
Nicole Calella (Sandyston, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) finished with her first career triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball team to an 83-71 win over Arcadia University in MAC Commonwealth action on Sunday, Jan. 15, at Lamade Gym.

Calella also added four steals and served as both the catalyst for the Warriors (10-6 overall, 4-4 MAC Commonwealth), who snapped a two-game losing skid, as the team shot 47 percent (31-of-66) from the field and 79 percent at the free-throw line (19-of-24), as Calella hit all eight of her free throw attempts.

Freshman
Akilah McFadden (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) led the way with a career-high 22 points to go with nine rebounds, three assists and two steals and freshman
Kayla Kline (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) added 17 points and four rebounds.

A 3-pointer from junior
Haley Sipple (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) early in the final quarter gave Lycoming a 64-51 lead, but Arcadia was able to close within five points as the final minute approached. Howver, Calella hit all six of her attempts in the final minute, as Lycoming iced the game away with a 7-of-8 performance at the line while Arcadia missed its final five attempts from the floor.

Calella helped kickstart the Warriors in the first half, posting four points, six rebounds and eight assists, while helping the team recover from a slow start to shoot 67 percent (10-of-15) in the second quarter.

The Knights jumped out to a 16-10 with four minutes left in the first quarter before the Warriors began to work back into the game, ending the quarter on an 8-2 run, with McFadden posting four points during the run.

In the second period, the Knights scored the first four points before the Warriors took control, scoring eight points off transition in the period and going on a 20-7 run that occupied six and a half minutes of the quarter before Lycoming ultimately earned its first 10-point advantage with 41 seconds left in the half off a free throw from freshman
Hailey Dayton (Reisterstown, Md./St. Timothy's). Arcadia cut the lead down to eight at the break with a layup by Sammy Downham.

The Knights got as close as six points in the third quarter before the Warriors went on a 14-5 tun to get a 58-43 lead with 1:32 left in the third quarter, and Lycoming kept the double-digit lead until the game clock ticked into the final seven minutes.

Maureen Fiocca led the Knights with a  game-high 29 points and six rebounds, while Imani Alston added 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists and Sammy Downham had 10 points and two assists.

The Warriors turned the ball over just six times in the game and had a solid presence in the paint, scoring 50 points and getting 14 in transition. Sipple and junior
Shelby Mueller (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) each had nine points and sophomore
Jenn Grove (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) added seven points.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Jan. 21, when they start the second half of MAC Commonwealth play with a doubleheader at Hood College. The women will play at 1 p.m. before the men tip at 3 p.m.
