Warriors down Defenders

Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Aided by five forfeit wins, the Lycoming College women's tennis team defeated Clarks Summit University, 9-0, in non-conference action at Bruce Henry Park on a hot, sunny Wednesday, Sept. 7.
 
The Warriors swept the four contested matches, as senior Sophie Herzing (St. Mary's, Pa./Elk County Catholic) led the team with singles and doubles wins. Herzing posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Chelsea Miller at No. 2 singles and teamed with junior Kaitlin Hallabuk (Towanda, Pa./Towanda Area) for a come-from-behind 8-4 win over Miller and Veronica Hernandez at No. 1 doubles.
 
Freshman Hannah Summerson (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) downed Hernandez, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and senior Margot Rankins-Burd (West Winfield, N.Y./Mount Markham) won her first career match, 6-0, 6-0, over Sabrina Stratton at No. 3.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Sept. 10, when they head to Wilkes for an 11 a.m. match against the defending MAC Freedom champions.
