Ashley Stover (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill), the Lycoming College women's tennis team used three doubles and three singles wins opened the spring portion of its 2015-16 campaign with a 6-3 win over local rival Penn College on Thursday, March 24, at Bruce Henry Park.
Stover didn't lose a game all day, notching an 8-0 win with senior partner
Samantha Bruckart (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) over Erin Jacob and Valerie Kubalak at No. 3 doubles before posting a 6-0, 6-0 win over Madison Powell at No. 6 singles.
Sophomore
Kaitlin Hallabuk (Towanda, Pa./Towanda Area) also notched a pair of wins, posting an 8-3 win with junior partner
Sophie Herzing (St. Mary's, Pa./Elk County Catholic) at No. 1 doubles over Melissa Stabley and Carolyn Krasley before notching a 6-3, 7-5 win over Krasley at No. 2 singles.
The doubles pair of freshman
Brittany Lenze (St. Mary's, Pa./Elk County Catholic) and freshman
Kimberleigh Parroccini (Warren, Pa./Warren Area) posted an 8-4 win over Morgan Blackwell and Megan Barlett at No. 2 to round out the doubles sweep.
At No. 4 singles, junior
Mariah Durrant (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Blackwell to clinch the match.
The Warriors improved to 1-5 overall while Penn College fell to 1-5.
The Warriors get back in action on Tuesday, March 29, when they head to Alfred University for a 3 p.m. non-conference match.
