WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior
Shelby Mueller (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) had 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead a group of five Lycoming College women's basketball players in double figures, as the team shot better than 50 percent from the floor to post an 86-67 win over Hood College in MAC Commonwealth action on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 3, at Lamade Gym.

Freshman
Kayla Kline (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) led all scorers with 17 points while also adding nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. Freshman
Hailey Dayton (Reisterstown, Md./St. Timothy's) added 13 points and four assists, sophomore
Jenn Grove (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) added 11 points and six rebounds and junior
Hailey Fricke (Denver, Pa./Garden Spot) finished with a career-high 10 points for the Warriors (5-2 overall, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth).

Lycoming was able to score 85 points for the first time since an 89-46 win over Penn College in 2010 by shooting 51 percent (37-of-72) from the field in the game and a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line. Hood (3-3 overall, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) was held to 31 percent (20-of-64) in the game.

Midway through the first quarter, the Warriors began to take control after the teams had fought to tie at 12, with a jumper by Grove followed by a 3-pointer from freshman
Akilah McFadden (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) to start a 12-3 run that ended the quarter with Lycoming in front 25-15, as the Warriors shot 66 percent from the field in the game's first 10 minutes.

In the second quarter, Lycoming continued to pressure, scoring the first three buckets of the quarter and then using a 14-3 run to take a 45-23 lead after a pair of free throws from Dayton with 1:39 left in the half. The Blazers finished the quarter with the last seven points, though, to head into the break down by 15.

The Blazers cut the lead down to 12 with 50 seconds left in the third quarter, and closed within 10 multiple times in the fourth quarter, but couldn't get any closer than tat. The Warriors used a fastbreak bucket from Mueller with 3:12 left to start a game-closing 10-1 run.

McFadden finished with nine points, five rebounds, five assists and two blocks and junior
Haley Sipple (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) added six points, five rebounds and three assists. Sophomore
Becca Painter (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) added three assists, three steals and three rebounds.

Dajah Gee led the Blazers with 17 points, Taylor McGaughey added 11 points and Ebony Pitt added 10 points. Deaja Colden finished with six points, eight rebounds and four steals.

The Warriors get back on the court on Tuesday, Dec. 6, when they head to King's for a 7 p.m. non-conference game.
