LANCASTER, Pa. – Junior
Shelby Mueller (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) posted a career-high 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead a group of five Lycoming College women's basketball players to finish in double figures as it used a 48-point second half en route to a 74-59 win over King's College in the opening round of the Terry Greene Tip-Off Classic on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Mayser Gymnasium.

Mueller helped clinch the Warriors' win, scoring 19 of her 26 points in the second half to help the team expand on the one-point lead at the break and send the team into the Terry Greene Tip-Off Classic championship game, where they will face Elizabethtown at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20.

Akilah McFadden (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) finished with 12 points, six rebounds, six assists, six steals and three blocks and sophomore
Becca Painter (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) added 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Sophomore
Jenn Grove (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) finished with 10 points and two steals and junior
Haley Sipple (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) added 10 points and nine rebounds.

Lycoming (2-0 overall) shot 53 percent (18-of-34) in the second half and 46 percent (29-of-63) overall while holding King's (0-2 overall) to 39 percent (22-of-56).

The Warriors took control of the game in the third quarter, responding to a 3-pointer that gave King's the lead early in the quarter by scoring six points in a row. After King's closed within a point, the Warriors closed the final 6:26 of the half on a 19-4 run, with a layup from Sipple sending the game into the final quarter with the Warriors ahead 50-36.

In the final quarter, the Monarchs couldn't get closer than a dozen points even as they hit 9-of-12 shots from the field. Mueller took over, scoring 13 of the team's 24 points in the period and Painter closed out Lycoming's scoring with an old-fashioned 3-point play with 24 seconds left to make it 74-57 before two free throws from Rebecca Prociak closed out the contest.

The Warriors jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the first quarter, with McFadden leading the run with four points and an assist. King's cut the lead down to two with five straight points and kept it within five points the rest of the period, but Lycoming held onto the lead. In the second quarter, the Warriors used an 8-0 run that featured a bucket and assist from both Mueller and McFadden to make it 24-15 with 5:32 left. The Monarchs responded with their own nine-point run to tie it at 24 with 1:59 left, but a fastbreak layup from Mueller with 1:14 left helped the Warriors take a 26-25 lead into the second half.

Prociak led the Monarchs with 14 points and Alexis Steeber had 13 points and two blocks. Olivia Hoffman added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
