Warriors use bonus points to drop Monarchs, 32-12

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – With bonus points in all seven matches it won, the Lycoming College wrestling team dominated in a 32-12 win over Middle Atlantic Conference foe King's College on Sunday, Jan. 31, at Scandlon Gymnasium.

The Warriors (12-6 overall) got bonus points in each of their first four bouts, with dominating performances all-around. Sophomore Kyle Drick (Allenwood, Pa./Montgomery Area) started things off quickly with a two first-period takedowns and a two-point near fall en route to a 13-1 win over James Wright at 125 pounds for his 15th win of the season. Freshman Andy Aguilar (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) followed with an early takedown that led to a pin of Dakota Conner in 2:03 at 133 and freshman Joe Santomarco (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) added two turns and four takedowns to rack up a 16-3 major decision win over Jake Daniel at 141.

Junior Seth Lansberry (Klingerstown, Pa./Line Mountain), ranked sixth in the nation, followed with another dominating effort, using four turns and two takedowns to post a 17-0 technical fall in 4:20 against Tony Immediato at 149 to give Lycoming a 19-0 lead. After King's (5-13 overall) earned a decision at 157, junior Nolan Barger (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield Area), ranked second in the country, became the ninth wrestler in school history to win 25 matches in a row with a 10-1 major decision against Angelo Lussi at 165.

Sophomore Brandon Conrad (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) clinched the win at 174 pounds, using two four-point near falls, two takedowns and a reversal in a 16-1, 5:00 technical fall against Rene Sousa for his team-leading 27th win and for good measure, junior Willie Alford (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) added a 12-4 major decision win over Edward Merrill at 184 to round out the team's 32 points.

Both Lansberry (25-2) and Barger (25-0) reached the 25-win mark for the third straight year, joining an exclusive group of seven grapplers in program history to win 25 matches three times in a career (Royce Eyer '01, Eric Walker '00, Rob Cosper '00, Andy Lausier '01 and Aaron Fitt '97).  Barger also won his 90th career match, joining Lansberry, who reached the milestone on Thursday at Alfred State, as the 12th wrestler in program history to reach the milestone. He is 90-20 in his career, while Lansberry is 91-18.

The Warriors get back on the mat on Saturday, Feb. 6, when they head to the John Summa Tournament at Baldwin Wallace University at 10 a.m.
