Warriors fall to Lions

READING, Pa. – Senior Jake Wanamaker (Waldwick, N.J./Waldwick) scored two goals to lead the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team, but Albright College used a 10-goal first half en route to an 18-5 Commonwealth Conference win at Don Thomas Stadium.
 
The Warriors (2-11 overall, 2-4 Commonwealth) also got goals from freshman Garrett Huff (Corning, N.Y./Corning East), junior Lee Pappas (New Windsor, Md./Glenelg Country School) and senior Trevor Williams (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Catholic) and assists from junior Mike Cooper (Riva, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and sophomore Brendan Loftus (Pine Brook, N.J./Montville Township).
 
Senior Christian Jacobs (Gwynn Oak, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) finished with four ground balls to lead the Warriors defensively and sophomore Jacob Eller (Durham, N.C./Riverside) caused one turnover.
 
Albright scored the first eight goals in the game and took a 10-1 lead before the Warriors closed the gap with two goals in the second quarter's final 2:02. In the second half, Albright scored three more goals before Wanamaker and Huff scored to make it 13-5 with 12:50 left. After that, the Lions added five more to round out the scoring.
 
T.J. Holston led the Lions (11-3 overall, 4-2 Commonwealth) with five goals and both Ryan Turner and Matt Brasher added three. The Lions won 21-of-26 at the faceoff 'x', with Darian Meador winning 12-of-13. Cam Cetrone led the team with six ground balls.
 
In net, senior goalkeeper Alex Wylly (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) made 13 saves in net for the Warriors before freshman Will McAndrew (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) stopped one in the last four minutes.
 
Nicholas Pisko earned the win for the Lions, making two stops in the first half before yielding to Ryan Aler, who made six stops in the second half.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Tuesday, April 21, when they head to Stevenson University for a 7 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game.
