FREDONIA, N.Y. – After falling behind by 13 points midway through the first half, the Lycoming College men's basketball team stormed back with a dominating second half to post a 69-49 non-conference win over Fredonia on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Steele Hall Fieldhouse.

Four Warriors finished in double figures, as the team overcame a first half in which it shot just 29 percent (10-for-34) while not getting to the free throw once before shooting 52 percent (16-of-31) in the second half while hitting 10-of-15 at the free throw line. Meanwhile, they held Fredonia to a steady 34 percent (17-of-50), hoisting up 15 more shots thanks to forcing 12 more turnovers.

Freshman
Calvin Chandler (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) led the Warriors with 12 points off four 3-pointers and he picked up three steals. Junior
Nykolas King (Harlem, N.Y./Manhattan Center for Science & Math) pulled in 11 points and two assists. Both junior
David Johnson (Philadelphia, Pa./Communications Tech) and sophomore
Chris Wallace (Randallstown, Md./Calvert Hall) each added 10 points, with Johnson posting eight rebounds and Wallace notching six and two steals.

Sophomore
Alex Newbold (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic) added nine points, eight rebounds and two steals and freshman
T.J. Duckett (Severna Park, Md./Calvert Hall) hit two 3-pointers to finish with six points.

The Blue Devils (0-1 overall) built a 24-11 lead in the game's first 15 minutes, but Chandler hit a big 3-pointer to start a 12-0 run over the final five minutes of the first half to help the Warriors close within a point. Chandler hit two 3-pointers during the run and a steal and transition layup from Newbold ended the run.

In the second half, King found Newbold for the first bucket of the half to make it 25-24 with 19:31 left and Lycoming never trailed again. A layup by Johnson with 18:23 left gave Lycoming the lead for good and a 3-pointer by Duckett with 13:08 helped Lycoming to expand the lead to 10 points for the first time. Fredonia closed within seven at 49-42 with just 7:50 left, but Lycoming responded with a 20-7 run to close out the game.

Ian Helps led the Blue Devils with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Kasean Jackson added 10 points and three rebounds. Dante Williams notched seven points, eight rebounds and two assists and both Richard DeLaCruz and Brandon Hodge each added seven points.

The Warriors get back on the court on Monday, Nov. 23, when they host Susquehanna University at 7 p.m. in Lamade Gym.
