Connors, Herzing lead Warriors against Crusaders

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The No. 3 doubles team of freshman Sophie Herzing (St. Mary's, Pa./Elk County Catholic) and senior Kendall Connors (Republic, Pa./Brownsville Area) posted a 9-7 win to lead the Lycoming College women's tennis team on Saturday, April 5, but it fell 8-1 to Alvernia University in its Commonwealth Conference opener at a blustery Bruce Henry Park.
 
Herzing and Connors pulled out the tight match at No. 3 doubles for their first win as a doubles team against Lillian Hussar and Rachael Eberhardt. Herzing also led the team in singles play, falling to Eberhardt, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 5 singles.
 
The Warriors fall to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in the Commonwealth. Alvernia improved to 8-7 overall and 1-1 in the Commonwealth.
 
The Warriors get back on the court when they head for Commonwealth Conference foe Albright on Monday, April 7 at 1 p.m.
