Plattsburgh State, with back-to-back appearances in the Division III Sweet 16 under its belt, led from wire-to-wire, posting a 15-6 run in the first five minutes. The Warriors cut the lead to four at 15-11 after a pair of free throws from senior Patrick Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) with 14:35 left, but Plattsburgh responded with a 17-6 run to take a 32-15 lead with 9:14 left after a Moody trey.

Lycoming rallied to within seven after a 3-point play by King with 7:35 left, but Plattsburgh closed the half with a 15-5 run to take a 47-30 lead into the break.

The Warriors outscored the Cardinals, 34-31, in the second half, but they could cut the lead to 10 only once at 49-39 with 15:27 left. The Cardinals led by as many as 20 with 3:50 remaining before the Warriors ended the game on a 9-3 run to make up the final 14-point margin.

The Warriors shot just 31 percent (19-of-61) in the game, although that percentage improved to 39 percent in the second half (11-of-28). The Cardinals shot 42 percent (28-of-67), including 37 percent (11-of-30) from 3-point range.
