WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman
Chris Wallace (Randallstown, Md./Calvert Hall) posted 14 points, five rebounds and two steals to lead the Lycoming College men's basketball team, but Plattsburgh State hit 11 3-pointers and shot a healthy 42 percent from the floor to post a 78-64 in the championship game of the Dutch Burch Tip-Off Tournament at Lamade Gym on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 16.

Wallace picked up all-tournament team honors, thanks to a tournament average of 13.5 points, four rebounds and two steals for the Warriors (1-1 overall). The Cardinals (2-0 overall) were led by tournament MVP Jordan Moody, who finished with 22 points and three rebounds.

Two Plattsburgh State players finished with double-doubles, as Kyle Richardson posted 13 points and 10 rebounds and Edward Correa notched 10 points and 11 rebounds. All-Tournament Team selection Mike Mitchell posted nine points and eight assists.

The Warriors had three players finish in double figures, with sophomore
Nykolas King (New York, N.Y./Manhattan Center for Science and Math) notching 12 points, eight rebounds and two steals and freshman
Justin Iton (Hackensack, N.J./Dwight Morrow) posting 10 points and five rebounds.

Plattsburgh State, with back-to-back appearances in the Division III Sweet 16 under its belt, led from wire-to-wire, posting a 15-6 run in the first five minutes. The Warriors cut the lead to four at 15-11 after a pair of free throws from senior
Patrick Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) with 14:35 left, but Plattsburgh responded with a 17-6 run to take a 32-15 lead with 9:14 left after a Moody trey.

Lycoming rallied to within seven after a 3-point play by King with 7:35 left, but Plattsburgh closed the half with a 15-5 run to take a 47-30 lead into the break.

The Warriors outscored the Cardinals, 34-31, in the second half, but they could cut the lead to 10 only once at 49-39 with 15:27 left. The Cardinals led by as many as 20 with 3:50 remaining before the Warriors ended the game on a 9-3 run to make up the final 14-point margin.

The Warriors shot just 31 percent (19-of-61) in the game, although that percentage improved to 39 percent in the second half (11-of-28). The Cardinals shot 42 percent (28-of-67), including 37 percent (11-of-30) from 3-point range. Lycoming did take care of the ball, posting just nine turnovers in the game, while forcing 16, but the Cardinals held a 25-8 advantage in transition points.

The Warriors get back on the court on Tuesday night, Nov. 18, when they head to Susquehanna for an 8 p.m. tip-off.
