Warriors post first win over Greyhounds since 2008

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ARLINGTON, Va. – Freshman Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United) posted 12 kills and hit .667 to lead the Lycoming College volleyball to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-18) win over Moravian on Saturday, Sept. 21, to wrap up a tri-match at Marymount University. The Warriors fell to the Saints in the first match, 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-16).
 
Slawson slammed 12 kills and was complimented by hot-hitting efforts from sophomore Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) (eight kills, .300 hitting percentage) and freshman Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) (seven kills, .500 hitting percentage). Lycoming, as a team, hit .388 during the match, including an exceptionally-hot .565 in the third set.
 
Senior Katelyn McKillop (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) added 31 assists and junior Amber Seibel (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) added 10 digs. Richardson and Slawson each added two blocks as the Warriors (9-6 overall) notched their first win over the Greyhounds (5-7 overall) since a 3-1 win in Williamsport in 2008.
 
The Greyhounds were led by 10 kills from Taylor Kornman and eight from Lauren Hostetler. Kelly Brown added 35 assists and seven digs and Kim Groff notched 10 digs.
 
Senior Shelby Gear (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) six kills to lead the Warriors in the 3-0 loss to Marymount (6-6 overall) to start the day. McKillop posted 23 assists and Seibel notched nine digs. Junior Kristin Whitehead (Avon, Ohio/Avon) added seven digs and Richardson, freshman Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) and junior Kylee Sutton (Wysox, Pa./Towanda Area) each posted four kills.
 
Erin Allison notched 11 kills for Marymount and Brianne Fitzpatrick posted 33 assists. Emileigh Rettig notched nine kills, eight digs and four blocks.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Tuesday, Sept. 24, when they host Albright at 7 p.m. in a key Commonwealth Conference match.
