Adriana Rivera (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) won a doubles match and sophomore
Kendall Connors (Republic, Pa./Brownsville Area) won a singles match to lead the Lycoming College women’s tennis team during its spring season opener on Saturday afternoon, March 23, at Bruce Henry Park, but Misericordia was able to post a 7-2 win in non-conference action.
Smith and Rivera got the Warriors (0-3 overall) on the board in doubles play, notching an 8-6 win over Brittany Bressler and Rachel Bossler. The team was also just edged out at the No. 1 doubles slot, as sophomore
Shannon Sheridan (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) and junior
Kathy Jacobs (Milton, Pa./Milton Area) fell to Michelle Cameron and Cassie Foy, 9-7.
In singles play, Connors posted the first win of her career at No. 6 singles, downing Erica Hannon, 6-0, 6-4, but the Cougars (6-5 overall) won the other five matches to take the 7-2 decision.
The Warriors get back in action on Tuesday, March 26, when they host Elizabethtown in a Commonwealth Conference match at 3:30 p.m. at Bruce Henry Park.
