Woods sets school record to lead Warriors at Swarthmore Invite

SWARTHMORE, Pa. –
Junior Dan Woods (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) wrapped up a great Swarthmore Invitational by winning both the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke, breaking his own school-record in the butterfly to lead the Lycoming College swim teams on the second day of the invitational, Saturday, Nov. 23.
 
Woods, who also won the 200-yard individual medley on Friday night, notched a time of 52.07 to knock down his own school-record of 52.15 in the 100-yard butterfly and then hopped back in the water after one event off and posted a time of 1:01.46, the third-fastest in school history, to win the 100-yard breaststroke.
 
Five Warriors finished in the top 10 in the 100-yard breaststroke, as sophomore Trevor Endler (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) finished third (1:04.56), senior Jake Pelinsky (Southwick, Mass./Westfield) took fourth in a season-best 1:04.84, junior T.J. Guminski (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) took ninth in a season-best 1:06.86 and freshman Josh Cram (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) took 10th in a season-best 1:06.91.
 
Endler also took second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:19.86, while Cram took eighth in 2:31.00 and sophomore Zak Kibler (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) took ninth in 2:35.43.
 
Senior Zack Brower (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) had a solid showing in the 100-yard freestyle, posting a season-best 49.70 to finish third, while sophomore Dan Apostolu (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) finished sixth in 51.14.
 
Guminski also finished eighth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.79.
 
Sophomore Josh Thomas (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) posted a time of 4:39.60 to finish sixth in the 400-yard individual medley, while sophomore Alex Anderson (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) finished ninth with a season-best 4:47.56 and Kibler took ninth in 4:55.06. Thomas also finished eighth in the 200-yard backstroke with a season-best 2:05.93 and fourth in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:06.48.
 
Senior Jack Port (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) took ninth in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:15.62 and Anderson took 10th in 2:16.45. Port also finished eighth in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 18:23.52 and Apostolu took ninth in 19:16.52.
 
Brower finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a season-best 1:54.69 while senior Luke Dohrman (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) finished 11th in a season-best 1:58.92. Dohrman also finished 11th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.08 and Pelinsky took 12th in 52.17.
 
On the women's side, the Warriors were led by solid performances in the breaststroke, as three Warriors finished in the top five in the 100-yard event and three in the top six in the 200-yard event, led by sophomore Jilly Flynn (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional).
 
Flynn posted a time of 1:11.76 to take second in the 100 yard event, while sophomore Cathrin Manning (York, Pa./York Suburban) finished fourth (1:17.74) and freshman Morgan Black (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) finished fifth (1:17.84). In the 200-yard event, Flynn finished third with a time of 2:39.25, freshman Jess Wimmer (Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area) took fourth in 2:41.33 and Manning took sixth in 2:45.43.
 
Sophomore Felicia Sloyer (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) provided three top-six finishes and junior Alexia Follweiler (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) notched two top-six finishes on Saturday for the Warriors.
 
Sloyer finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.20, fifth in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:19.58 and sixth in the 200-yard freestyle.
 
Follweiler finished sixth in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a season-best 1:03.57 to take sixth and then added a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard version of the event, posting a season-best 2:19.81.
 
Sloyer led the Warriors in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 2:03.68, finishing sixth, just ahead of teammates junior BethAnn Schwoyer (Williamsport, Pa./Homeschooled) (2:07.94) and freshman Cydnei Crust (Bellefonte, Pa./Commonwealth Connections Academy) (2:08.22), who finished eighth and ninth, respectively.
 
Wimmer finished eighth in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:08.65 and senior Jennie Marosits (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) finished ninth with a time of 5:16.37. Marosits also took sixth in the 1,650-yard freestyle, posting a time of 19:30.12.
 
Schwoyer also finished fourth in the 200-yard backstroke (a season-best 2:19.58) and sixth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.75) while Marosits finished eighth in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:06.24 and sophomore Tenninger Kellenbarger (Encitas, Calif./LaCosta Canyon) took ninth in the 200-yard event with a time of 2:26.94.
 
The Warriors get back in the pool on Saturday, Dec. 7, when they head to Messiah for a 2 p.m. Middle Atlantic Conference dual meet.
