SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Junior Dan Woods (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) continued his solid start to the 2013-14 season by posting a win in the 200-yard individual medley to a great first-day effort by the Lycoming College swimming team at the Swarthmore Invitational on Friday night, Nov. 22.
 
Woods dropped his seed time by 12 seconds as he notched a time 2:01.34 to take the event's title despite starting the race in the second to last heat.
 
His high school teammate, senior Zack Brower (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) also had a solid first day, finishing third in the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 22.71. Senior Jake Pelinsky (Southwick, Mass./Westfield) also finished 13^th in the event, posting a time of 23.61, and senior Luke Dohrman (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) took 15^th with a time of 23.67.
 
Three other Warriors scored points in the200-yard individual medley, as sophomore Trevor Endler (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg) posted a season-best 2:11.31 to take 12^th. Sophomore Dan Apostolu (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) added a time of 2:11.37 to take 13^th and sophomore Zak Kibler (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) finished 16^th in a season-best 2:14.58.
 
Senior Jack Port (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Crest) took 10^th in the 500-yard freestyle, posting a time of 5:12.78 and sophomore Dan Cunningham (McAdoo, Pa./Hazleton Area) notched a time of 5:30.72 to take 13^th. Junior Aaron Slagle (Waynesburg, Ohio/Sandy Valley) took 15^th in 5:33.45.
 
Two Warriors finished in the top eight in the 200-yard individual medley to highlight the women's day at the invitational, with freshman Jess Wimmer (Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area) taking seventh in a season-best 2:20.90 and junior Lexi Follweiler (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) posting a season-best 2:22.69 to take eighth. Sophomore Cathrin Manning (York, Pa./York Suburban) posted a time of 2:31.61 to take 13^th.
 
Freshman Cydnei Crust (Bellefonte, Pa./Commonwealth Connections Academy) finished 10^th in the 500-yard freestyle, dropping 10 seconds off her seed time, to post a time of 5:41.90, and freshman Carly Brower (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) took 16^th in 6:03.04, dropping her seed time by 13 seconds.
 
Racing for the first time this season, sophomore Jilly Flynn (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) notched a time of 27.15 to take 11^th, freshman Morgan Black (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) posted a time of 27.47 to finish 14th and freshman Madison Walmer (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) added a season-best time of 27.72 to take 15^th.
 
The Warriors wrap up the Swarthmore Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 23, with the first races beginning at 9:30 a.m.
