Warriors open season against defending champs

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men's and women's swim teams opened the 2013-14 season on Saturday evening, Oct. 26, when the defending Middle Atlantic Conference champions, Albright, came to the Lamade Gym Natatorium. The Lions were able to take both meets, with the men winning, 128-72, and the women winning, 129-71.
 
On the men's side, the Warriors (0-1 overall, 0-1 MAC) notched second-place finishes in both relays, the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke.
 
In the 200-yard medley relay, senior Jack Port (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff), sophomore Trevor Endler (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick), sophomore Josh Thomas (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) and senior Luke Dohrman (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) posted a time of 1:45.83. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Dohrman, senior Peter Fields (Burke, Va./Robinson), senior Jake Pelinsky (Southwick, Mass./Westfield) and senior Zack Brower (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) notched a time of 1:49.22.
                                                                                                                                                 
Pelinsky posted a strong 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 52.30, and Endler finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.45.
 
Albright improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the MAC.
 
On the women's side, the Warriors (0-1 overall, 0-1 MAC) finished second in both relays, the 200-yard freestyle, the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke.
 
The 200-yard medley relay team of junior BethAnn Schwoyer (Williamsport, Pa./Homeschooled), freshman Jessica Wimmer (Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area), junior Lexi Follweiler (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) and junior Brigid Clark (Wyndmoor, Pa./Springfield) posted a time of 2:00.99. The 200-yard freestyle relay squad of Wimmer, sophomore Felicia Sloyer (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen), freshman Cydnei Crust (Bellefonte, Pa./Commonwealth Connections) and Follweiler posted a time of 1:49.22.
 
In the 200-yard freestyle, Clark finished second with a time of 2:07.27. Wimmer finished second in the 200-yard individual medley, posting a 2:24:57, just two-tenths of a second behind Albright's top swimmer, and freshman Morgan Black (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) took second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time 1:19.13.

Albright improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the MAC.
 
The Warriors get back in action on Saturday, Nov. 2, when they head to Hood for a 2 p.m. Middle Atlantic Conference dual meet.
