HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Lycoming College volleyball team picked up a pair more wins with a 3-0 win over Alfred State (25-18, 25-18, 25-23) and a 3-1 win over Houghton (25-21, 21-25, 26-25, 25-22) to reach 22 wins for the second straight year on the first day of the Houghton Invitational on Friday, Oct. 25.

In the first match, the Warriors (22-9 overall) posted 12 aces and added 63 digs to notch a 3-0 win over Alfred State (17-10 overall).

Freshman
Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) notched 12 kills and hit .455 to lead the Warriors against the Pioneers. She also added nine digs.

Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) added six kills and sophomore
Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) added four kills, six aces and a block. Junior
Amber Seibel (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) added 21 digs and senior
Katelyn McKillop (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) notched 26 assists and seven digs. McKillop and junior
Kristin Whitehead (Avon, Ohio/Avon) each also had three aces.

Alfred State was led by seven kills from Kay Pfleghardt and Rebecca Hanrahan. Lera Braun posted 20 assists and six digs and Jess Ramsey posted 11 digs. Hanrahan added four blocks.

Against Houghton, senior
Shelby Gear (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) posted a season-high 18 kills, hit .432 and added 11 digs and two blocks to lead the Warriors past the Highlanders (17-6 overall), 3-1.

The Warriors hit a hot .429 in the first set, as they smashed down 61 kills in the match and 17 in both the first and fourth sets.

Fink also had a fine match with 25 digs and Seibel added 23 while Whitehead posted 21. McKillop added 55 assists and 17 digs, leaving her just six assists shy of 4,000 in her career.

Jahn also posted nine kills and 12 digs and Richardson posted 11 kills, four digs and three blocks.

Hattie Burgher led the Highlanders with 14 kills and 16 digs and Allysa Quimby added six aces and 15 digs. Laurel Wroblicky notched 28 digs and Jaime Green notched 37 assists and six digs.

The Warriors get back in action on Saturday, Oct. 26, when they face Michigan-Dearborn at 10 a.m. and SUNY Canton at 2 p.m. to wrap up the Houghton Invitational.
