Dickinson Long/Short Invitational Results
NEWVILLE, Pa. – Another solid performance by the Lycoming College cross country teams at the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational at Big Spring High School on Saturday, Sept. 29, was highlighted by an 18
th-place finish in a 24-team field by the women’s cross country team on the long course.
The women finished 13
th out of 14 teams in the women’s combined race, but were led by a solid performance on the 6K long course, led by senior
Michelle Herman (Altoona, Pa./Hollidaysburg), who posted a time of 25:08.9 to take 38
th in a field of 213 runners.
Senior
Ashley Buck (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) added a time of 27:03.2 to take 108
th and freshman
Rachel Salmon (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) posted a time of 30:52.1 to take 180
th. Junior
Carmen Niemeyer (Brookings, S.D./Brookings) posted a season-best time of 31:50.1 and sophomore
Meaghan Jones (Lansdowne, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) added a career-best 36:28.7.
On the 4K short course, the Warrior women finished 16
th in a field of 18 teams, led by a 65
th-place finish by sophomore
Heather Cunningham (York, Pa./Central York), who finished in 18:50.6. Freshman
Chelsea Henderson (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) finished in 18:53 to take 66
th. Junior
Meredith Ellmore (Lothian, Md/Southern) finished in 19:57.6 and sophomore
Kelsey Rawson (Waldorf, Md./North Point) finished in 20:06.5 in their first collegiate races.
The men’s cross country team came in 13
th overall in a 14-team field. On the long course, the Warriors took 24
th in a field of 26 teams, led by freshman
Peter Rittenhouse (Green Lane, Pa./Quakertown Community), who finished 172
nd with a time of 31:03 in a 233-runner field.
Junior
Michael Puchalski (Redlands, Calif./Redlands East Valley) finished 193
rd with a season-best 32:09 and sophomore
Alex Bottorff (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) came in 200
th with a time of 32:49.0. Sophomore
Chris McAtee (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) beat his twin brother,
Rory, for the first time in a collegiate race, finishing in 33:08 to take 204
th while Rory took 208
th with a time of 33:18.0.
Freshman
Jacob McClain (Cogan Station, Pa./Jersey Shore) finished with a career-best time of 35:53 and freshman
Jamal Nelson (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) also melted a minute off his time, finishing in 36:39. Senior
Pat McAtee (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) also dropped 1:30 off his best 8K time, finishing in 40:23.
On the short course, the Warriors took 14
th in a field of 16 teams, led by a 58
th-place finish from sophomore
Kevan Guerin (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest), who posted a time of 16:43.8 on the 4K course.
Freshman
Austin Sungenis (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) was right behind with a time of 16:50.4 and freshman
James Ahrens (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) finished in 18:02.0. Sophomore
Jalil Samuel (Parkton, Md./Hereford) posted a time of 18:08.3 to wrap up the Warriors’ run at the event.
The Warriors get back on the course on Saturday, Oct. 13, when they head to the DeSales University Invitational for a 10:30 a.m. start.
