Oropollo earns slot on D3football.com Team of the Week

Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – On Tuesday evening, Sept. 11, Lycoming College senior defensive lineman Nate Oropollo (Aldan, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) made it a trifecta, as he was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week to go with a pair of other weekly honors he earned for his performance against No. 22 Delaware Valley.

Oropollo, who was also named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday and a Beyond Sports College Athlete of the Week on Monday, was a force for the Warriors (1-1 overall, 1-0 MAC), as the team knocked off its fourth ranked opponent in the last five years. He found the quarterback on five different plays in the first half, getting credit for three full sacks and two half sacks.

The sacks helped the Warriors overcome a 7-0 deficit to take a 17-7 lead by halftime, as the Warriors beat the Aggies (0-2 overall, 0-1 MAC) for the first time since 2008.

Oropollo’s four sacks were the most for the Warriors since Mark Seagraves set the school record with six against Wilkes in 2000.

Oropollo is the first Warrior to earn a national weekly award this season and the first Warrior to earn a slot on the D3football.com Team of the Week since Anthony Marascio ’12 earned a spot on the team the week of Nov. 2, 2011. Oropollo is the eighth Warrior defensive lineman to earn a slot on the D3football.com Team of the Week.

The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, Sept. 15, when Lebanon Valley comes to David Person Field for a 1 p.m. Middle Atlantic Conference game.
