Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – Junior Megan Gardner (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) won her first singles match of the spring season at No. 1 to lead the Lycoming College women’s tennis team, but a three-set win at No. 6 by Arcadia’s Latoya Fluker helped Arcadia sneak away with a 5-4 Commonwealth Conference win at the Weiss Tennis Courts on Saturday, April 14.
 
The Knights (2-8 overall, 1-2 Commonwealth) won two of the three doubles points, including a close 9-7 win at No. 1 by Beth Osipowitz and Kaila Gaughan over Gardner and junior Emily Zangara (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township).
 
Junior Adriana Rivera (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and freshman Abbey Smith (Towanda, Pa./Towanda Area) picked up a point at No. 3 doubles for the Warriors (2-5 overall, 1-1 Commonwealth), beating Danielle Riggins and Fluker, 8-2.

After an Arcadia win at No. 2, Gardner beat Osipowitz, 6-2, 6-3 to tie the match and freshman Shannon Sheridan (Danville, Pa./Danville) added a three-set, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 win over Jasmine Peake to tie the match at three. Sophomore Kathy Jacobs (Milton, Pa./Milton) gave Lycoming the lead with a  6-4, 6-1 win over Viloa Sawyer at No. 4, but the Knights won both the No. 5 and No. 6 singles flights to take the match.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Thursday, April 19, when they host Elizabethtown at Bruce Henry Park at 4 p.m. in a Commonwealth Conference match.
