Warriors get back on the court with Hoops for Hounds Tournament

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After a season off, the Lycoming College women’s basketball team will welcome back its holiday tradition - the Hoops for Hounds Tournament. The Warriors open the tournament on Friday, Dec. 28, at 5 p.m., against the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts before Eastern faces Susquehanna in the other first round game at 7 p.m.

The Warriors (2-6 overall) are coming off a gutsy performance against No. 8 Messiah, falling 58-45. Senior Rachael Scheller led the team in the game, as she scored 12 points and added three assists.

MCLA (5-4 overall)  is coming off a 77-46 loss to Smith College on Wednesday, Dec. 12. The Trailblazers were led by Lucy Tremblay’s team- high 18 points.

Warrior Notes
• The Warriors are 6-6 all-time in the Hoops for Hounds Classic and have won two titles (2008, ’09). The team is 4-2 in first round games.

• The Warriors are 0-1 all-time against teams from Massachusetts, falling to Emmanuel, 90-85, on Nov. 20, 1993.

• Junior Julia Antonelli became the 26th player in school history to reach 600 career points with her fifth of seven against Messiah.

• Antonelli needs 11 rebounds to become the 18th player in school history to reach 400 in a career.

• Senior Rachael Scheller needs two more assists and two more steals to move into the top five in school history in those career categories.

• Sophomore Kat Andriani needs four more points to become the 95th player in school history to reach 100 in a career.

• The Warriors have posted more than twice the scoring output off the bench than their opponents, 215-106.
