CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – In its final tune-up before the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, the Lycoming College cross country teams continued to show marked improvement, with 11 runners posting season-best times at the DeSales University Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 13. The women’s team posted finished 14
th in a 20-team field and the men’s squad took 19
th in a 22-team field.
Senior
Ashley Buck (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) led the women’s squad, finishing 41
st with a time of 26:47.59 and sophomore
Heather Cunningham (York, Pa./Central York) knocked nearly a minute off her previous best, finishing in 28:35.58 to take 92
nd. Freshman
Rachel Salmon (LockHaven, Pa./Central Mountain) took 113
th with a time of 29:19.74 and running in her first career 6K, junior
Meredith Ellmore (Lothian, Md./Southern) posted a time of 30:54.10. Junior
Carmen Niemeyer (Brookings, S.D./Brookings) rounded out the top five with a time of 31:00.85.
Sophomore
Kelsey Rawson (Waldorf, Md./North Point) posted a time of 31:22.71 in her first collegiate race and sophomore
Meaghan Jones (Lansdowne, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) melted nearly two minutes off her previous best, finishing in 34:35.83.
Freshman
Peter Rittenhouse (Green Lane, Pa./Quakertown Community) dropped under 30 minutes for the first time in his career, posting a 29:52.15 to finish 84
th in a field of 225 runners to help lead the Lycoming men’s team to a 19
th place finish.
Junior
Michael Puchalski (Redlands, Calif./Redlands East Valley) posted his best time since his freshman year, notching a 117
th-place finish in 30:38.45 and sophomore
Alex Bottorff (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) added a season-best time of 31:25.14 to take 141
st. Sophomore
Louis Lara (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph) added a time of 32:57.86 in his first collegiate race, taking 176
th, and sophomore
Chris McAtee (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) rounded out the team’s top five with a 187
th-place finish in 33:34.87.
Senior
Kevan Guerin (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) posted his best time of the year, finishing in 33:48.77, and freshman
Josh Allabaugh (Nanticoke, Pa./Greater Nanticoke Area) added a time of 34:06.29. Freshman
Jamal Nelson (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) melted two minutes off his previous best, finishing in 34:18.82. Freshman
Jacob McClain (Cogan Station, Pa./Jersey Shore) also melted a minute off his previous best, finishing in 35:25.68.
Senior
Pat McAtee (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) broke 40 minutes for the first time in his career, finishing in 37:49.07, and freshman
John Paul Keith (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) also dropped under 40 minutes, posting a time of 38:12.25.Sophomore
Jalil Samuel (Parkton, Md./Hereford) rounded out the Warriors’ group, finishing in 40:49.06.
The Warriors will now take a week off to get prepared for the MAC Championships, which will be held at Misericordia University on Saturday, Oct. 27. The women’s race will begin at 11 a.m. and the men will race at 12 p.m.
