Warrior men sweep Etown, Messiah, women split double dual meet

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –
Freshman Daniel Woods (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) and junior Joe Andrie (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) led the Lycoming College men’s swim teams with two wins apiece to lead the Warriors to a 145-116 win over Messiah and a 192-67 win over Elizabethtown in a Middle Atlantic Conference double dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Lamade Gymnasium Natatorium. A trio of freshmen posted wins to help the Lycoming College women’s swim team to a 143-118 win over Elizabethtown, but Messiah used a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay to take a narrow 137-124 win.
 
The Lycoming men’s team improved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the MAC.  Elizabethtown fell to 1-2 overall and Messiah improved to 1-2 overall. The Lycoming women’s team is now 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the MAC. Elizabethtown is 1-2 overall and Messiah is 2-1 overall.
 
The men’s team got off to a quick start, winning four of the first five events to take control of the meet. Woods, Andrie, freshman T.J. Guminski (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) and freshman Sean Marshall (Waverly,  N.Y./Athens) posted a time of 1:41.95 to take the 200-yard medley relay. Senior Myles Biggs (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) posted an 11:09.13 to take the 1,000-yard freestyle and sophomore Jack Port (Mechanicsburg,  Pa./Cedar Cliff) took second with a time of 11:14.70. Woods added a 58.79 to take the 100-yard backstroke and Andrie posted a 1:03.65 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
 
After a pair of Falcons wins, Marshall posted a time of 50.99 to take the 100-yard freestyle and Andrie added a win in 200-yard breaststroke at 2:21.09. Woods posted a time of 54.62 in the 100-yard butterfly to take a win, coming .61 seconds from the school record of 54.03 set by Nate DeCapria in 2003.
 
The Warriors wrapped up the meet with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of Marshall, sophomore Zack Brower (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North), freshman Joe LeBender (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame (N.J.)) and Woods posted a time of 1:32.12.
 
Freshmen Brigid Clark (Wyndmoor, Pa./Springfield), BethAnn Schwoyer (Williamsport, Pa./Homeschooled) and Danielle Loiseau (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) each posted wins for the women’s team to lead the Warriors to split the double dual.
 
Clark took first in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 2:03.47 and added a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle a 57.24. Schwoyer won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.79 and took second in the 200-yard version at 2:18.12. Loiseau won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.57 and took second in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:22.10 and the 200-yard butterfly in 2:20.32.
 
The 200-yard medley relay team of Schowyer, junior Emilie Norton (Winthrop, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central), Loiseau and Clark started the meet with a win in 1:57.65.
 
The Warriors get back in the water on Wednesday, Nov. 16, when they head to Misericordia for a 6:30 p.m. MAC meet.
