Warriors fall to Eagles

Box Score HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Junior Megan Gardner (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) picked up her third win of the season, but the Lycoming College women’s tennis team fell to Juniata College, 7-2, in non-conference action on Thursday, Oct. 6.

Gardner posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Steinhauer at No. 1 singles to lead the Warriors (1-4 overall), while sophomore Ellen Phillips (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) added an 8-4 win at No. 6 against Alex Willis for her third win of the year.

The duo of freshman Shannon Sheridan (Danville, Pa./Danville) and junior Emily Zangara (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) had a tight match at No. 2 doubles with Megan  Phillops and Hilary Walsh, falling, 9-8. At No. 4 singles, Sheridan fell in a super-set tiebreaker, 4-6, 7-5, 10-5 to Phillips.

The Warriors get back on the court with their final meet of the fall when they head to the MAC Individual Championships on Saturday, Oct. 15. The tournament starts at 9 a.m. at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
