WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Led by a trio of individual victories from senior

Myles Biggs (Easton, Pa./Easton Area), the Lycoming College swim teams posted their fifth straight sweep of a Middle Atlantic Conference opponent, as the women’s team posted a 140-99 victory and the men’s team notched a 143-87 victory on Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Lamade Gym Pool.
The stands were filled for the Warriors, as the women’s team wrapped up its 10th straight winning dual meet season and the men’s team concluded its 10th straight non-losing campaign. The meet was both the team’s Senior Day, in which seniors Joe Kuder (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown), Meg Emery (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock), Flick, Melody Johnson (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg) and Catherine Shillington (Glenside, Pa./St. Basil Academy) were honored during the second of the meet’s break, and the team’s Pink-Out, as the team wore pink swim caps and shirts for the meet to raise awareness for breast cancer awareness. The school’s Colleges Against Cancer organization raised money for the cause, hand out brochures about the disease, and honor breast cancer survivors with a small token.
On the women’s side, Flick and Marosits posted three wins and sophomore Lindsey Hunsicker (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), sophomore Elisa Becker (Reston, Va./South Lakes) and sophomore Hope Weber (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) each posted two individual wins for the Warriors (6-3-1 overall, 5-2-1 MAC).
Flick notched wins in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.41), 50-yard freestyle (26.10) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.59). Marosits added wins in the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.59), the 200-yard backstroke (2:25.03) and the 400-yard individual medley (5:19.86).
Becker added wins in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.78) and the 100-yard freestyle (57.90) and Hunsicker posted wins in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:05.21) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:45.57) and took second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:27.75). Weber notched wins in the 200-yard butterfly (2:25.64) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.47).
In the relays, the Lycoming team of Marosits, freshman Ariel Smith (Hanover Township, Pa./Holy Redeemer), Weber and Becker notched a time of 1:59.87 to take the 200-yard medley relay and the team of Hunsicker, sophomore Emilie Norton (Winthrop, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central), Smith and sophomore Caitlin DeAngelo (Rading, Pa./Muhlenberg) notched a time of 1:51.92 to win the 400-yard relay to wrap up a sweep of 14 wins in as many races for the Warriors.
Arcadia fell to 4-9 overall and 1-6 in the MAC.
On the men’s side, Biggs led the Warriors (6-3 overall, 6-2 MAC) with a three-win day as he trekked more than a mile through the water to wins in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:57.49 – a season-best time), the 500-yard freestyle (5:20.75) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:43.62 – a season-best time). Biggs has won eight straight individual races in dual meet action.
Freshman Zack Brower (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) posted a pair of wins with a time of 1:56.37 in the 200-yard freestyle and 51.89 in the 100-yard freestyle. Junior Joe Andrie (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) added wins in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.83) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.35) along with a second-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley (4:43.62).
Several others had fine days for the Warriors, with freshman Jack Port (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) winning the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.15), sophomore Jeheil Boner (Springville, Pa./Elk Lake) taking the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.37), freshman C.J. Arhontakis (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) winning the 50-yard freestyle (23.33) and freshman Luke Dohrman (Burke, Va./Robinson) winning the 100-yard butterfly at 1:02.02.
The Warriors now have two weeks to prepare for the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, as they start the meet at noon on Friday, Feb. 11.
