DALLAS, Pa. – With three wins at the bottom of the lineup, the Lycoming College women’s tennis made a strong comeback, but fell to Misericordia, 5-4, in a non-conference road match on Sunday afternoon.

After losing all three doubles matches and two singles matches to the Cougars (2-1 overall), the Warriors (2-3 overall) mounted four straight singles wins to close the match, as sophomore Megan Gardner (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) posted a 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Breanne Phillips at No. 1 and senior Rebecca Reynolds (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) added a 6-0, 6-2 win over Courtney Otto at No. 4.

To close out the match, the Warriors took a pair of super-set matches, with freshman Kathy Jacobs (Milton, Pa./Milton) posting a 9-8 (3) win over Cassie Foy at No. 5 and freshman Ellen Phillips (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) added an 8-2 win over Lauren Verret at No. 6.

The Warriors will now take two weeks off to prepare for the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships, starting on Saturday, Oct. 9, at the King’s/Wilkes tennis courts in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
