Men's swimming wraps up 2009-10 season with 136-111 victory against Arcadia

- The Lycoming College men’s swim team won its final dual meet of the 2009-10 season, a 136-11 decision against Arcadia University on Saturday, Jan. 23.

Sophomore Myles Biggs posted an 11:17.69 in the 1,000-yard freestyle to take first-place. Joseph Kuder captured third at 11:22.89.

The 200-yard freestyle was a tight race between two Warriors. John Kitner took first in 1:58.38, edging out John Dougherty, who recorded a time of 1:59.93. The Warriors posted a second straight one-two finish in the 100-yard backstroke as Ben Hitchcock won in a time of 59:41 followed by Trevor Silbernagel at 1:04.09.

Sophomore Joseph Andrie won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:07.14. He also won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.62. Derek Lupia took first in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 53.77. He was followed by teammates Nicholas John in a time of 54.01 and Dougherty at 55.10.

Lycoming also swept the 200-yard breaststroke, paced by Hitchcock in a time of 2:13.24. In second place was Kuder in 2:22.45 and Silbernagel in 2:22.82

In the 200-yard breaststroke, Andrie touched the wall in first place with a 2:28.80, followed by Biggs in a 2:37.50. In the final event, Doughtery took second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:43.25. In third place was John, recording a 6:00.83.

The Warriors' next event will be the Middle Atlantic Conference championships, which will be held Feb. 15-17, at the Wilkes-Barre Catholic Youth Center
