DOYLESTOWN, Pa. --- Freshman Michelle Herman was the top finisher for the Lycoming College women’s cross team at the Delaware Valley Invitational on Saturday Sept. 5. She finished 15th overall in a field of more than 155 runners.
As a team, the Lady Warriors finished in 13th place out of 15 while the men’s team took 13th out 17. Both the men’s and the women’s races included teams from NCAA Divisions II and III.
In the Lady Warriors event, Herman (Altoona, Pa./Hollidaysburg) navigated the six kilometer course in a time of 26:11 and was the first Lycoming runner across the line. Senior Kari Smith (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) took 86th place in a time of 30:16 with fellow senior Holly Andrews (Plymout Twp., Pa./Greater Nanticoke Area) rounding out the top three in 127th place in a time of 34:43.
For the men’s team, senior Steve Brown (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) finished 67th in a field of 160, finishing the eight kilometer course in a time of 31:11. Two Warriors crossed the line with just ten seconds separating them. Sophomore RJ Wiechecki (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) finished in 33:04 while junior transfer Jake Lewis (Micleton, N.J./Kingsway Regional) finished in 33:14.
The Warriors are idle until they race at Misericordia University on Saturday, Sept. 19. The women’s race is set to start at 11 a.m. while the men begin at 11:45 a.m.
