PHILADELPHIA, Pa. --- In just her third collegiate cross country meet, Lycoming College’s Michelle Herman took 9th place in a field of 177, finding the podium at the Belmont Classic on Saturday, Sept. 26. Herman navigated the 5,000-meter course in a time of 21:07.
The other top finishers for the women’s team, which placed 16th out of 20 teams, were seniors Kari Smith (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post-West), taking 34th place in a time of 21:58 and Holly Andrews (Plymouth Township, Pa./Greater Nanticoke Area) rounding out the top three in 27:30, good enough for 150th place.
In the men’s event, Senior Steve Brown (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) stopped the clock of the 8,000-meter course in 30:25 while Jake Lewis (Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway Regional) crossed at 31:29. Senior Scott Boyles (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) finished in 70th placed with a time of 32:21).
The Warrior harriers return to the course on Saturday, Oct. 3, when they compete at the Belmont Classic again. The event is set to start at noon.
