COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. --- In its first road meet of the season, the Lycoming College men’s swimming team fell to Ursinus in a close 108-92 meet on Saturday, Nov. 7. The Warriors picked up an individual victory in the 100-yard backstroke from freshman Ben Hitchcock.
Lycoming slips to 0-2 on the season as the Bears improve to 2-0 on the year.
Hitchcock (Newark, Del./Newark) nabbed the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.78. In third for that event was John Kitner (Great Mills, Md./Great Mills) with a time of 1:05.02.
Sophomore Myles Biggs (Easton, Pa./Easton) took third in the 1,000-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 11:06.73 and second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:24.54. Hitchcock also came in second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.63.
Kitner and Joseph Andrie (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) finished second and third in the 200-yard IM, with Kitner in a time of 2:12.11 and Andrie in a time of 2:15.61. Chad Lemmons (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) grabbed second in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 58.38.
Lycoming’s next meet will be against local rival Susquehanna University on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Meet time is set for 6:30 p.m. on the campus of Lycoming College.
