DALLAS, Pa. – Despite multiple top-three finishes, the Lycoming College men’s swimming team fell to Misericordia University 152-104 on Wednesday, Nov. 18. Freshman Ben Hitchcock picked up two first-place finishes.
The loss drops Lycoming to 1-4 on the season and 1-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference while Misericordia improves to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the league.
Hitchcock (Newark, Del./Newark) picked up his first victory of the night in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.32. He also took first in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 2:06.76.
Joseph Andrie (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) took two second places, one in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.52 and 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:25.02. In the same event, Drew Miller (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) took third in 2:31.72.
In the 200-yard freestyle, John Dougherty (Mountain Top, Pa./Bishop Hoban) took second in a time of 1:57.08. John Kitner (Great Mills, Md./Great Mills) took a second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.15 and the 100-yard butterfly in a time 57.43.
Sophomore Myles Biggs (Easton, Pa./Easton) took a second place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 11:15.70.
Lycoming is off until Friday, Dec. 4 when it competes at the Swartmore Invitational. The first event is slated for a 6:30 p.m. start.
